Trinity Lutheran Church.  Records of Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Peter, Minnesota, 1888-2000.  LCA Collection 31.  1 Records Center Carton and 2 ½ Hollinger boxes.

ABSTRACT:
The Trinity Lutheran Church collection consists of the church’s records from its founding in 1891 through the creation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Materials include minutes, service bulletins, event programs, church histories, newsletters, and other less substantial papers. The church was founded as First English Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Peter.  It was one of the first congregations in the Augustana Synod to perform the entire church service in English.  The church followed a motto of “the faith of our fathers in the language of their children.”  The church changed its name to Trinity Lutheran Church in 1936. Trinity Lutheran Church is located in downtown St. Peter, Minnesota. There are some materials after the ELCA’s formation during January 1988.

SCOPE AND CONTENT:
This collection is divided into six series: administrative, events, groups, histories and anniversaries, newsletters, and pastors.

Administrative, 1896-1996:
This series shows activities and actions of the church’s administration. Materials include meeting minutes and information packets, congregational mailings and newsletters, directories, statistics and some financial information.

Events, 1908-1988:
Materials in this section are mostly bulletins for Sunday services, special events, and programs.  Often included with the bulletins are announcements for activities happening at the church. Also contained in this series are event flyers, banquet programs, and newspaper clippings.

Groups, 1936-1992:
This series consists of the papers of many organizations active within Trinity Lutheran Church.  These include the Augustana Lutheran Church Women, FISH, Lutheran Church Women, PROP, TLC, the Women’s Missionary Society, and other men’s and women’s organizations along with the youth program.

Histories and Anniversaries, 1888-1992:
Clippings and programs of various anniversaries and dedications make up this series.

Newsletters, 1903-1989:
This series is comprised of a collection of newsletters containing messages from the pastor and information about upcoming parish events.

Pastors, 1892-2000:
