ABSTRACT:
The Rev. S. Hjalmar Swanson collection contains materials he wrote along with other papers.  His book, Touring Tanganyika, is included, as well as his bible study manuscripts and information about Augustana Overseas Missions.  The collection also consists of pamphlets and small books.  Some of the material is written in Swedish.  Swanson was a 1910 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College.  He continued his education at Augustana Seminary, and became an ordained Pastor in 1913 for the Augustana Synod.  Swanson later served as the director of foreign missions for the Augustana Church.
