ABSTRACT:
The papers of Rev. Erik Eriksson contain incoming correspondence in Swedish. It also includes fragments of correspondence and miscellaneous papers. Materials are organized alphabetically by sender. Eriksson served as president of the Kansas Conference of the Augustana Lutheran Church and was on the executive committee of the Minnesota Conference.
BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Erik M. Eriksson was born in Sweden during 1849 and ordained at Karlstad, Sweden in 1876. He was a pastor in Sweden for eight years and served as a missionary in India from 1877-1884 before moving to the United States to be a minister for the Augustana Synod later that year. Eriksson was the Kansas Conference President from 1888-1890, and later a member of the executive committee of the Minnesota Conference for several years. After retiring in 1916, he continued to serve occasionally until he died in 1938.
