ABSTRACT:
The Scrapbook of Ellery and Aileen Peterson contains photographs, brochures, and other travel materials from several Scandinavian Heritage Tours the couple led through Group Travel Directors, Inc.  The tours brought participants to a variety of museums and cultural landmarks throughout Denmark, Sweden, and Norway.

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
After serving in the United States military from 1944 to 1946, Ellery Peterson graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1949 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.  He later earned a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota and after working for a CPA firm was offered a position at Gustavus in 1965.  Peterson, his wife Aileen, and their four children moved to Saint Peter, Minnesota, where he established an accounting office in addition to holding a position as Professor of Economics and Management.  Peterson served at Gustavus until 1990 during which time he led several student trips abroad to visit European banks and other financial institutions.  Peterson and his wife, Aileen, also led additional tours which were open to the public, such as the Scandinavian Heritage Tour.  Peterson devoted his personal time to holding several government positions in Saint Peter after his retirement.  Aileen passed away in 2000 and Peterson married his second wife, Carol.  Due to his community involvement, Peterson received the 2010 Nicollet County Outstanding Senior Citizen Award and was honored at a ceremony held at the Minnesota State Fair.
