Gustavus Philharmonic Orchestra
Justin Knoepfel, conductor
The Gustavus Philharmonic Orchestra (GPO), led by Dr. Justin Knoepfel, is an orchestra that focuses mostly on Baroque and Classical era repertoire. Generally, the orchestra is comprised of strings, occasionally adding winds, brass, and percussion for various repertoire throughout the years. Members of the orchestra are admitted by audition only at the beginning of the academic year. The GPO gives two to three concerts a year: one in the Fall, and one or two in the Spring. In addition, the orchestra also participates in Chapel and/or Sunday morning services at Christ Chapel. The orchestra does not rehearse during the month of January (J-Term).
The GPO rehearses Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:45-7:00 pm in Bjorling Recital Hall.
