January Interim Career Exploration
Career Exploration
Career Explorations are full-time opportunities to job shadow or intern that take place over the four weeks of January. The Interim Career Exploration requires at least sophomore status in order to receive academic credit. You must intern or shadow for 30 hours per week for the four weeks of Interim and you will receive one Interim academic credit for your experience. It is possible to participate in a Career Exploration at more than one site as long as the time requirement will be met between locations and it is approved by Career Development.
Students who want to earn a January Interim academic credit for a Career Exploration must complete a two-step registration process:
1. Pre-Registration:
Registering for a Career Exploration requires pre-registration. When online registration for Interim classes opens up (late October or early November) register for NDL-068 in order to reserve your place. Do this instead of signing up for a class, even if you don't have the Career Exploration details ironed out - we can assist you with that.
2. Registration:
- Find Faculty Sponsor: Find the Faculty Sponsor who has been assigned to serve students in your major on the list of Interim Career Exploration Faculty Sponsors.
- Complete Registration Form: Once you have a commitment from a site for your Career Exploration, complete the Interim Career Exploration Registration Form. Completed forms will include signatures from the assigned Faculty Sponsor and your Career Exploration Site Supervisor.
- Return Completed Registration Form: The completed Interim Career Exploration Registration Form must be turned in to the Internship Director for approval by the registration deadline.
- Career Exploration Approval: Career Development will review and approve completed registration forms and deliver them to the Registrar. The Registrar's Office will complete your Career Exploration Registration upon receipt of the approved registration form from the Internship Director.
- Orientation: Registered Career Exploration students will be required to complete an orientation. Once the registration form is submitted, students will receive instruction on how to complete orientation.
