International Internships
Registration
Students must turn in a completed, signed International Internship/Career Exploration Form along with their completed, signed Semester and Summer Internship Registration Form (internships) or Interim Career Exploration Registration Form (career explorations) in order to register to earn academic credit for an internship or career exploration at any site located outside of the United States.
**International students completing an internship in their home country should follow the steps to register for a domestic internship.**
Students who register to earn credit for an internship or career exploration at any site located outside of the United States must also complete an application through the off-campus study application system at the Center for International and Cultural Education.
Registration Deadlines
The registration deadlines for international internships and career explorations are earlier than the registration deadlines for domestic internships and career explorations:
2016 Interim (January Term) Career Explorations: October 9, 2015
Spring Semester 2016 Internships: October 9, 2015
Summer Term 2016 Internships: March 1, 2016
Fall Term 2016 Internships: March 1, 2016
International Travel Documents and Travel Warnings
Passports can take up to 14 weeks for processing. Visas can take even longer and may require in-person arrangements at the appropriate embassy (typically Chicago or Washington DC). View a list of embassies.
Gustavus will not sponsor or approve registration for academic credit for an internship or career exploration in any country with a current travel warning. The State Department Website contains a list of countries with travel alerts or travel warnings.
