About the Human Performance Lab

Purpose and Location

The Human Performance Laboratory (HPL) can be accessed by members of the Gustavus community. It is located on the ground floor of Lund Center adjacent to the Athletic Training Room and across from the Cardio-Center. A Full-Fitness Assessment, comprised of a variety of tests used to identify current fitness level, is available free of charge. Once the assessment is completed, results are mailed to the client. These results provide the client with a baseline measure of fitness level and suggest a personalized activity program based on the individual's goals. Senior health fitness majors staff the HPL and are fully trained fitness professionals. Bruce Van Duser, Ph.D., Exercise Physiology serves as Director of the HPL.

Lab Hours

Lab hours are dependent upon availability of lab technicians. Hours are normally scheduled mornings and afternoons. To reserve a time for a full-fitness assessment, which takes about one hour, please stop by the lab. The lab is closed in the summer and resumes operation during the third week of September.
