- Statement Of Purpose/ Mission
- Educate and expose students to the benefits of a Martial Arts lifestyle in a safe and welcoming environment. The Martial Arts Club promotes the practice and culture of Martial Arts on campus. Our events are open to the entire campus community. We meet at least twice a week for practices. We also have occasional trips to Minneapolis/Saint Paul in order to view local Martial Arts tournaments and events.

Article I: Name and Mission Statement Section I: The name of this organization shall be the Gustavus Martial Arts Club. Section II: The purpose of this organization is to expose students to various martial art styles; including but not limited to Taekwondo, Karate and SooBahkDo; Members will have the opportunity to attend all classes in each section, but may specialize as they wish. Article II: Membership Section I: Any student at Gustavus Adolphus College may join the club. Any Gustavus Adolphus College student or staff may join the club so long as they meet this single requirement: 1. A risk waiver has been signed. Students who have any level of experience in Martial Arts are welcome to teach and obtain a leadership role, so if any wish to do so they should contact any member of the Executive Board or the Advisor. Article III: Officers Section I: The positions available are at least two instructors, and 2+ other Executive Board members depending on interest. Section II: The Executive Board will work with the Advisor to manage funds, provide travel plans and other paperwork, and keep open communication between the club, school, advisor and any associations. At least one member of the leadership team must attend every practice/event or nominate a representative in his or her place, this member shall serve as captain for said event. There is no limit on how many years an officer may hold a title. Section III: Captains must be enrolled at Gustavus Adolphus College and be a member of the Gustavus Martial Arts Club. Section IV: The Executive Board members are responsible for insuring waivers are signed, organizing practices, and organizing travel accommodations if necessary. Article IV: Meetings Section I: Practices will be held as decided by the club at the beginning of each semester. Article V: Finances Section I: Funds may be allocated by the Gustavus Student Senate or through donations. The team may wish to participate in fundraising opportunities as well. Article VI: Amendments Section I: At any time any member may propose an amendment to the constitution. A majority vote of the team is required for the amendment to be instilled.
