Section 2: Her Campus Gustavus shall align itself with the mission statement of Her Campus National, which is to serve college women across every platform. Article III: Membership. Section 1: Membership in this organization is open to all students interested in contributing to the publication and whose values align with the mission of Her Campus Magazine. Section 2: The following categories of membership exist in Her Campus Gustavus: Writing, Editing, Social Media, Events, Marketing & Publicity, Photography Section 3: All members of the Her Campus Gustavus team must sign a contract at the beginning of each academic year committing to: meeting attendance, both Her Campus Magazine and Gustavus Adolphus College policies, and to actively participate in the organization. Section 4: Members are accepted continually throughout the year so long as they are in good standing with the college. An application may be required. Section 5: Members may remain members in good standing so long as they adhere to the policies and requirements outlined in their contracts. Article IV: Officers. Section 1: The following officer positions shall exist for Her Campus Gustavus: President (Primary Campus Correspondent), Editor-In-Chief (Secondary Campus Correspondent), Senior Editor(s), Events Director, Marketing & Publicity Director, Social Media Director, Secretary, and Treasurer. All officers must be full-time students in good standing enrolled at Gustavus Adolphus College. The only position that has additional requirements is the position of the President; the president must have one year of experience as a Her Campus Gustavus team member before becoming President, must be trained by Her Campus National, and must meet all requirements as outlined by Her Campus National. Section 2: The duties of each officer are described as follows: President: The president should handle all of the business- and management-related aspects of the chapter. He or she should supervise the Events, Publicity, and Social Media teams and ensure that social media requirements are met. Although both CCs (EIC + Pres) should contribute to the MCWR, the President should be the one to submit the form each week. The president is most often also the Senior CC or the CC who has been working with Her Campus the longest. Editor-In-Chief: The Editor-in-Chief top edits + fact-checks all chapter content. He or she is responsible for approving the editorial calendar weekly and ensuring national content requirements are met. Note: If your chapter has only 1 CC the EIC / President positions are combined, but not all chapters operate with one Campus Correspondent. Therefore if your chapter has two CCs both should be 100% capable of filling the other person’s shoes in the event of an emergency. It’s also important to note the following: ALL Campus Correspondents are responsible for thinking about the chapter as a whole in addition to individual team members. Additionally, ALL Campus Correspondents are responsible for thinking about the chapter as a whole in addition to individual team members. Senior Editor: The role of Senior Editor is to be the right-hand of the Editor-in-Chief. He or she manages, edits, and, in some cases, uploads (using the Chapter Contributor account) all content before the EIC sees it. He/She will be expected to create the editorial calendar (preferably using Google Sheets) and compile writers’ article ideas for the week for EIC approval. Senior Editors also remind writers/bloggers of deadlines and generally manage the editorial team under EIC supervision. NOTE: Larger teams should aim to have section editors editing content before the Senior Editor. Events Director: Our strongest chapters plan events on and/or off campus throughout the semester, so having an Events Director is essential. This person plans the events, seeks out venues and sponsors (if applicable), determines giveaways, etc., and works closely with the Marketing & Publicity Director/team to publicize the event. They could also work on national programs if the chapter is selected. NOTE: Larger teams should aim to have PR/events team help plan events. NOTE: The Events Director and Marketing & Publicity Director positions often overlap, which is why smaller teams comprise of 10 people or less can have the same person hold both positions. Marketing & Publicity Director: The Marketing & Publicity Director is in charge of all things chapter promotion. If your chapter is planning an event, they’re in charge of coming up with the strategy your team uses to market and publicize it on campus and in the community. Like the Events Director, they can also work on national programs if the chapter is selected. NOTE: Larger teams should aim to have PR/events team help share content and publicize events. NOTE: The Events Director and Marketing & Publicity Director positions often overlap, which is why smaller teams comprise of 10 people or less can have the same person hold both positions. Social Media Director: The Social Media Director develops a strategy behind updating the required social media accounts for the chapter (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) each week and any additional accounts (Pinterest, Tumblr, Snapchat, etc.) your chapter may have. He or she manages the social media calendar and analyzes the accounts to determine best times to post and ways to get your readers/followers to interact. He/She also helps ensure all required accounts are updated multiple times per week, if not multiple times per day. NOTE: Larger teams should make it a goal to have a social media team to help post on each required platform. Our most successful chapters have at least one social media manager per platform. NOTE: Smaller teams comprised of 10 people or less may have the Social Media Director manage all channels, but this is a HUGE undertaking and can quickly become very overwhelming for one person. We recommend splitting it among at least 2-3 people. Secretary: The Secretary keeps a written record of what happens at all Her Campus Gustavus meetings, helps with correspondence about upcoming meetings and events, assists with the development of organizational goals, and attends weekly team meetings and monthly Executive Board meetings. Treasurer: The Treasurer works closely with the other Executive Board members to maintain the finances of Her Campus Gustavus and keeps accurate records of all financial matters, coordinates fundraising efforts, assists in the development of organizational goals, and attends weekly team meetings and monthly Executive Board meetings. Section 3: Executive Board positions shall be determined by the Campus Correspondent(s) from the previous year after carefully considering all applicants. If needed, the Campus Correspondent(s) can receive consultation from previous year’s the Executive Board. Section 4: All officers shall be selected at the end of each academic year. The months of April and May shall serve as a training period where current officers work with new officers to help them with the transition. Section 5: If a Her Campus Gustavus Executive Board member is not fulfilling his/her duties, that member can be removed from the board with a ⅔ vote of all members of Her Campus Gustavus. Article V: Meetings Section 1: Meetings, unless otherwise specified, will be held once per week for the entire Her Campus Gustavus team and an additional meeting for the executive board only will be held once per month. The time and location of the meetings will be determined at the beginning of each semester. A weekly email reminder for the meeting will be sent out to all team members from the president. Section 2: Campus Correspondents (President and Editor in Chief) have the capability of calling special meetings for any matters they feel cannot wait until the next regularly scheduled meeting. Her Campus Gustavus team members will be given a minimum of 48 hours notice. Article VI: Committees Section 1: Committees will be formed on an as-needed basis. Section 2: Committees can be formed by any Executive Board member. Article VII: Finances Section 1: Funds for Her Campus Gustavus will primarily be raised through fundraising. The treasurer will manage all fundraising using the Her Campus Go Fund Me account. Section 2: Each semester the Her Campus Executive Board will propose a budget to the Gustavus Student Senate for additional funding. Article VIII: Amendments Section 1: All Her Campus Gustavus members who are in good standing may propose amendments to this constitution. Section 2: All members of good standing are eligible to vote on the amendment, but they must be present at the meeting to do so. A ⅔ vote is needed for the amendment to pass. Section 3: If an amendment is passed it shall take effect at the start of the next meeting.
