Statement Of Purpose/ Mission
The mission of Asian American Outreach is to raise awareness about social problems within the Asian American community to the public at Gustavus Adolphus College and eventually the rest of the country. The organization is dedicated to serve the Asian American community by volunteering within the community, organizing outreach programs, and promote peace and unity within the Asian American community and with the greater public.

ARTICLE I: NAME

The name of this organization shall be Asian American Outreach

ARTICLE II: MISSION

The mission of Asian American Outreach is to raise awareness about social problems within the Asian American community to the public. The organization is dedicated to serve the Asian American community by volunteering within the community, organizing outreach programs, and promote peace and unity within the Asian American community and with the greater public.  

ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. All students at Gustavus Adolphus who are interested in working and volunteering with the Asian American community, advance the welfare of the underserved, and improve the unity of our nation are welcome to join. Asian American Outreach will not discriminate on the basis of age, color, gender, gender identity, disability status, height, marital status, national origin, political persuasion, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status, or weight.

Section 2. Members are accepted continuously throughout the year.

Section 3. A member may remain in good standing so long as they attend 75% of meetings throughout the year.

ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS

Section 1. The following officer positions shall exist in Asian American Outreach: President, 2 Co-Vice Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, Risk Manager, Public Relations Officer. If no qualified parties are interested this requirement may be waived with a majority agreement. All officers must be full-time students in good standing and enrolled at GAC.

Section 2. Founding officers will hold their respective positions until the following semester.

Section 3. Each Executive Board member will be elected for the following academic year by majority vote at least three weeks before the final day of classes.

Section 3. Any officer failing to maintain membership in good standing or acting in contrary to the values the organization holds may be removed by a vote of no confidence. Resignation or removal of an officer from their position before the close of the academic year will result in emergency elections to fill the vacant office until the end of the academic year.

Section 4. The duties of each office are described as follows:

A.   President

1.     To organize and preside over meetings.

2.     To function as spokespeople for Asian American Outreach.

3.     To facilitate communication between executive board members.

4.     To work with the advisor and other executive board members to create yearly goals for the organization.

5.     To facilitate bi-weekly Executive Board meetings.

6.     To lead events organized by Asian American Outreach with the help of the officers of the organization.

7.     To represent Asian American Outreach when communicating with outside organizations.

B. Co-Vice Presidents

1.     To take over the roles of president in said officer's absence.

2      To direct control of committees the organization forms.

3.     To facilitate and maintain order during executive and regular meetings.

4.     To attend bi-weekly executive board meetings.

B. Secretary

1.     To record information at executive and regular meetings.

2.     To keep club members informed of upcoming meetings and events.

3.     To assist in the development of yearly organizational goals.

4.     To attend bi-weekly executive board meetings.

C. Treasurer

1.     To maintain the finances of Asian American Outreach and keep accurate records of all financial matters.

2.     To coordinate any fundraising efforts.

3.     To assist in the development of yearly organizational goals.

4.     To attend bi-weekly executive board meetings.

D. Risk Manager

1.     To relay and understand the Risk Management Policies and enforce them in Asian American Outreach activities and events.

2.     Determine which events require a Risk Management Plan and fill our required forms.

3.     To assist in the development of yearly organizational goals.

4.     To attend bi-weekly executive board meetings.

E. Public Relations Officer

1. To represent the organization when we need to address the Gustavus community and whoever we need to relay our messages to.

2. To advertise the organization's events to the gustavus community, and the greater public (with conjunction of the president and other executive members as applicable).

3. To create and maintain the organization's social media president, with help of the executive board as applicable.

4. To create press releases to add to the Gustavus daily to represent the organization.

ARTICLE V: MEETINGS

Section 1. Executive Board members will create a poll at the beginning of the semester to determine weekly dates, members will vote on the meeting date. The President, and other officers as applicable, will set the agenda for the meetings.

Section 2. Decisions are made by majority vote.

Section 3. The President may call emergency meetings for any matters they feel cannot wait until the next regularly scheduled meeting. 

ARTICLE VI: EXECUTIVE BOARD

Section 1. The Executive Board shall be comprised of the President, Co-Vice Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, Risk Manager, and Public Relations Officer.

Section 2. The Executive Board shall meet once every 2 weeks to discuss the planning of club events and develop organizational goals.

ARTICLE VII: COMMITTEES

Section 1. The Executive Board may create Special Committees on an as needed basis.

ARTICLE VIII: FINANCES

Section 1. The primary funding of the organization shall be appropriated through Student Senate, extra funding will be appropriated through fundraising.

Section 2. Upon dissolution of Asian American Outreach, any financial assets solely under the control of Asian American Outreach will be donated to other organizations or causes that align with the mission of the organization.
