Membership
Membership will be granted to all applicants who are interested in trying curling. Members will be expected to pay their dues and necessary fees to our home curling club as dictated by the United States Curling Association (USCA).
Funding
Members will be expected to pay the necessary dues. It will be to the club’s discretion to approve fundraising activities to help lessen the burden. The club is also expected to petition the Student Senate for funds to enter inter-college competitions.
Officers
Officers will be elected in the spring during the end of the year meeting. Candidates for office must be nominated by a current member, the nomination must then be seconded. A member can not nominate themselves. Once nominations have been entered, voting will take place. Voting will be done by ballot. Each current member will receive one vote. The nominee with the most votes will be elected to the office for the upcoming year. Ties will be broken by the vice-president. The officer positions will be as follows:
President: The president is responsible for running meetings and organizing club outings. This involves securing entries into events the club has voted on attending, planning travel arrangements, and making sure everything is in order for outings to be successful.
Vice-President: The Vice-president is responsible for taking over the president’s duties when the president in incapacitated. Furthermore, the Vice-president has the authority to cast all tie-breaking votes.
Treasurer: The treasurer is responsible for keeping track of the club’s on-campus finances, and for making sure that all members get their dues paid.
Secretary: The secretary is responsible for taking attendance and notes at club meetings. The secretary is also responsible for posting on-campus signage.
Risk Manager: The risk manager is responsible for establishing a working relationship with the Risk Management Committee for Student Life and to comply with risk management procedures. The risk manager is also responsible for ensuring that all members have their liability waivers signed at both the curling club and on campus.
Meetings
The club will meet once a month. The club’s officers will have an additional monthly meeting. It is the president’s responsibility to send out an agenda one week prior to either meeting. The officer’s will use their monthly meeting to discuss the overall goals of the club and how to accomplish them, as well as setting the date for the next monthly meeting. The overall club meetings will discuss which upcoming events members would like to participate in, as well as taking some time to discuss some new strategies or rules.
Competition
It is up to the members’ discretion as to how competitive they want to be. It would be the minimum expectation that the club do one learning/practice session a month. It would be ideal for members to participate in a weekly league in Mankato. Furthermore, the club may decide it is ready to send curlers to inter-college tournaments.
