Edgar M. Carlson Award for Distinguished Teaching
All members of the Gustavus community are invited to nominate a faculty member for the Edgar M. Carlson Award for Distinguished Teaching. (Past award winners are listed below.)
Nominations should include examples and details to support the nomination. These details might illustrate:
- The faculty member's excellence in his/her discipline
- The faculty member's success in generating enthusiasm, insight and thought in classrooms, studios and laboratories
- Practices that show the faculty member to be creative, stimulating or responsive
- Teaching that is especially collaborative, supportive, or innovative
- Mentoring and advising that inspire academic excellence
- Support for student research, scholarship and creativity
- The basis of your special respect for this person's teaching
The Edgar M. Carlson Award for Distinguished Teaching is the highest honor granted to a member of the Gustavus faculty. It represents a broadly shared desire to celebrate one teacher in each academic year who has demonstrated truly outstanding effort, accomplishment, and dedicated service to Gustavus students' best educational interests.
