Director of Residential Life

Charlie Potts, M.A.: Charlie is beginning his second year as Director in fall 2012. A graduate of Gustavus, he is currently a doctoral student at the University of Minnesota. Charlie has worked in student affairs at Minnesota colleges for the last decade.

Assistant Director of Residential Life

Kyle Haiman, M.Ed.: Kyle started as Assistant Director in February 2012 after starting his professional housing career at North Dakota State University. In addition to central office responsibilities, Kyle oversees the Carlson International Center residence hall.

Area Coordinators

Area Coordinators are full-time professional staff members who live on campus and are responsibility for oversight and management of specific areas of campus. The Area Coordinators supervise the Collegiate Fellows, assist with facilities management, oversee the conduct process for their areas and are available for conversations, support and to address concerns from students.

Jody Goldie, M.A. : Jody oversees Norelius Hall and Prairie View Hall. She lives in Norelius Hall. This is Jody's sixth year with our staff. Jody will be gone during the fall semester 2012. Emily Green will be serving in an Interim Area Coordinator role in Jody's absence. Emily is a recent Gustavus graduate and is a graduate student at the University of St. Thomas. Shawn Grygo, M.S. : Shawn serves as the Area Coordinator for Southwest Hall, Pittman Hall & Sohre Hall. She lives in Southwest Hall. A graduate of Gustavus, this is Shawn's third year with our staff.

Alisa Dean, M.S. : Alisa serves as the Area Coordinator for College View Apartments, Chapel View Townhomes, Arbor View Apartments and Uhler Hall. Alisa lives in College View Apartments. She is beginning her first year at Gustavus in the fall of 2012.

Kevin Bruins : Kevin serves as the Area Coordinator for the Complex (North, Sorensen and Gibbs Halls) as well as Rundstrom Hall. Kevin lives in North Hall. He is beginning his first year at Gustavus in the fall of 2012.

Head Residents are live-in, professional staff or faculty who are charged with actively creating and sustaining living environments conducive to the learning, growth, and development of students by assisting in the adjustment to the collegiate experience, promoting community development and serving as a resource and mentor to students. Collegiate Fellows

Collegiate Fellows (CFs) are carefully selected upper-class students assigned to a floor or section who are charged with actively creating and sustaining a living environment conducive to the learning, growth, and development of students. CFs have a variety of responsibilities: peer counseling, facilitating activities and programs that encourage the development of a strong, positive, and inclusive community in the hall, acting as general resources and referral agents.

Student Office Staff

Student staff members work in the Residential Life Office through the College's student employment program. Their job includes receptionist duties, answering telephones, data entry, web work, bulletin board creation, filing and general office duties.
