Sex & RelationshipsWellbeing
The Wellbeing Center provides a positive and respectful approach to sexuality, sexual health, and healthy intimate relationships. We advocate for safe and pleasurable experiences free of coercion, discrimination, harassment, and violence. Priorities include:
- Student Assistance. We ensure that students obtain accurate information about sexual wellbeing through social norms marketing. The Peer Assistants provide educational programming about values-based decision making, as well as risk reduction measures in sexual relationships, including communication, abstinence, and/or the use of contraceptives, condoms, and other barriers. They also assist students with developing healthy relationship skills (e.g., asking for consent, assertiveness, decision making, and condom/barrier negotiation).
- Assessment and Evaluation. Assessment and evaluation help us define the problem and determine how successful current approaches are at increasing risk reduction measures, and decreasing sexual assault and sexual misconduct.
- Policy. Policy review ensures that Gustavus has clear and appropriate guidelines for sexual assault and sexual misconduct on campus that are widely disseminated and consistently enforced.
- Advocacy. Through the Sexual Assault Response Team (S.A.R.T.), Gustavus staff members are available to respond to students who have experienced sexual assault or other forms of interpersonal violence. They are available to provide confidential support and information, and assist with resource referrals.

Sex in the Dark
Put all the questions of sex and issues pertaining to sex out on the line for your group to talk about. Individuals are encouraged to bring their personal
questions to write on notecards; answers will be provided to the best of our knowledge. Groups are also encouraged to discuss answers and information on
their own. “Sex in the Dark” is a fun, interactive way to get your questions answered. Facilitated by the Peer Assistants.
The Power of Positive Action
The goal of this session is to empower you to take action in challenges you may encounter as a student. The Peer Advocates will lead you through scenarios
and teach you skills to effectively respond as a bystander.
